- Sparkle 2.02 A mac-look-and-feel MPEG and QT player and converter.
-
- This should replace Sparkle 2.01 in the info-mac archives.
-
- Damn. I'm sorry everyone. I released 2.01 compiled with an option to trap
- to the debugger everytime something goes wrong, and I forgot to remove
- this option from what I sent out. I feel like a complete idiot about this
- and apologize for wasting everyones's time.
-
- About 2.01
- This is largely a bug fix and tweak release. Many bugs fixed. MPEGs
- created may be 15 to 25% smaller. Slight performance improvements.
- Slightly lower memory required to do things, and better handling of
- low memory situations. Can open much longer MPEGs than before.
- Read the "What's New in 2.01" for the gory details.
-
- Will run MUCH MUCH better if you have the Thread Manager installed.
- Without the Thread Manager installed, Sparkle 2.02 will run, but you will
- not be able to run in the background, do multiple things at once, etc.
- To learn how to obtain the Thread Manager for either 68K or PowerPC
- Macs, start Sparkle and read the dialogs that come up.
-
- This version has rough edges but so many people have wanted an MPEG
- encoder that I'm releasing it right away. It should always work and should
- never crash. If you have problems with it, please let me know.
-
- WHAT IS IT?
- Sparkle plays MPEGs and QT movies and converts between them. It is
- multifinder friendly and, with enough memory, will open multiple
- documents at once.
- It is free. I ask only that you read the enclosed README file and if you
- can help with any of the issues I raise there, you mail me.
-
- REQUIRES:
- System 7 or greater.
- QuickTime 1.6 or greater.
- An 020 based mac or greater.
- Works best with Thread Manager installed.
